QR CODE

In 1994, Denso-Wave, a subsidiary of the Toyota Group has created QR Code. Originally this QR Code was develop to be  used to track parts in the vehicle manufacturing industry, but its use has since grown tremendously.

QR or Quick Response Codes are a type of two-dimensional barcode that can be read using smartphones and dedicated QR reading devices, that link directly to text , emails, websites, phone numbers and more.
QR codes are huge in Japan and across the East, and are slowly beginning to become commonplace in the West.

Nowadays, you will see QR codes on product packaging, shop displays, printed and billboard advertisements as well as in emails and on websites. The scope of use for QR codes is very wide, particularly for the marketing and advertising of products, brands, services and anything else you can think of.

Not only that, in Malaysia, QR code on product packaging are created to make sure the customer are buying genuine product.

For example the image below show the different between genuine product and artificial product. by having this QR code, it will help the customer to be more confident in purchasing their product. To ensure the product are genuine or not, when the customer scan the QR code, the genuine product QR code will direct you to the web http://cloud-it-security.com. Then, if the product are not genuine, when they scan the QR code it will shows "this serial number has reached the scanning limit".

Besides that, QR code also has been used by the messaging apps like Whatsapp. According to the developer of Whatsapp, in order to provide user with a richer communication experience, WhatsApp is now accessible both on user phone and computer. WhatsApp Web is a computer based extension of the WhatsApp account on user phone. The messages user send and receive are fully synced between their phone and computer, and user can see all messages on both devices. Any action user take on the phone will apply to WhatsApp Web and vice versa. At this time, WhatsApp Web is available only for Android, iPhone 8.1+, Windows Phone 8.0 and 8.1, Nokia S60, Nokia S40 EVO, BlackBerry and BlackBerry 10 smartphones.

WhatsApp Web is not another WhatsApp account. When user use WhatsApp on their computer and phone, the user are simply accessing the same account on these two devices.
